Effective August 1st, 2002, The University of Toledo has
implemented this Qualified Parking Plan(1)
for the benefit of its employees, a plan providing
"qualified transportation benefits" which are excludable
from gross income under Section 132(f)(2)(B) as
"qualified transportation fringe benefits." By applying
for "Parking Permit by Payroll Deduction" you may reduce
your salary through those payroll deductions to pay for
monthly parking on a pre-tax basis. The annual total(2)
of those payroll deductions will not be included in
your income for employment or tax purposes.
(1 ) Qualified parking is parking provided on or near
the business premises that is not used by the employee
for residential purposes.
(2) There
is a monthly limitation amount that is reviewed annually
by the IRS and is subject to change. (For Tax Year 2003
this amount is $190.00 per month.)
EFFECTIVE BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2006, per HRS memo/fax of
12/30/2005 (received and posted 1/6/2006) the monthly
parking limitation has been increased from $200.00 to
