Student parking permits are a flat rate fee of $95.00 for all incoming and returning students with the sole exception of certain HSC returning students.  New web pages will be published shortly.

• All vehicles parked on campus must obtain and display a valid permit.

• Parking regulations are enforced 24 hours a day.

• Permits are not required from midnight Saturday until midnight Monday (weekends).

• Students are typically held liable for parking infractions committed by family members.

• Vehicles without permits are required to pay a fee to attend any special event, weekends or weekdays.

• Four FREE one day passes are available for visitors and guests of students, staff and faculty.
  All students are automatically issued a parking permit when they register UNLESS they specifically "OPT-OUT".

• If all fees are paid, your permit will be mailed to your home address during the weeks before classes start in a marked envelope. Do NOT throw this permit away. If you do not receive your permit please call or come to our office for a replacement.

• Permits not purchased prior to semesters must be purchased at the cashier's office in Rocket Hall.

• All students are automatically issued a parking permit  through SIS+ by default.  In order to not receive a student permit you must either "OPT-OUT" when you register or, if a permit is received, return the permit to the Parking Services Office before the end of the Add-Drop grace period for a full refund.

• If YOU RECEIVE A PERMIT THAT YOU DO NOT WANT, IT MUST BE RETURNED TO PARKING SERVICES BEFORE IT CAN BE TAKEN OFF YOUR MONTHLY BILL.  IF YOU DELAY RETURNING THE UNWANTED PERMIT AND STILL DO NOT PAY FOR IT YOU COULD INCUR MONTHLY SERVICES CHARGES.

• Graduate-assistants: You may exchange your student permit for a staff permit when your position has been verified on HRS and that position indicates staff parking is included.

• Permit serial stickers  must be attached to the hangtag appropriate to your student status (See Examples Below). If your status should change during the academic year, you will need to contact Parking Services to obtain the correct tag.

• UT utilizes dedicated lots for our campus residents. On campus freshman students (under 30 credit hours earned) must park their car at the Scott Park Campus while all other dorm/McComas village residents will park their car in their designated dorm parking lot.  Resident students are not allowed the use of commuter student lots or staff lots.  Commuter students will receive a commuter pass and can park in the white line areas of most lots.

• Hang tags should be kept from term to term.  If you lose your hangtag or require one of a different color [for different accesses] there is presently no charge to replace it but that free replacement cannot be guaranteed.  Putting the your serial sticker on the wrong hangtag could result in parking fines.  The serial sticker is not replaceable at 'no cost' unless it was stolen and a police report filed.

Resident Parking Exceptions

Residential students with exceptional needs may request an exemption to the parking policy by completing a Residential Parking Policy Exception Form (link below) and submitting it to Parking Services. All exemption requests will be answered promptly. You can get an Exception Form by downloading a "PDF" file through the link below.

THIS EXEMPTION FORM IS AVAILABLE ONLY UNTIL THE END OF THE ACADEMIC "ADD-DROP" PERIOD OF EACH TERM.  IF ADD-DROP HAS ENDED THE EXTENSION REQUEST PERIOD HAS EXPIRED AND NO FURTHER EXEMPTIONS WILL BE GRANTED.

Exemptions for the following reasons will not be considered:

• Work locations or responsibilities

• Personal convenience

• Extracurricular activities

• Proximity of permanent residence

Appeals for academic reasons will only be considered if UT Transit Services are unavailable for the time period in question.

Upper-Classmen residents who attend classes or participate in university related activities at the Scott Park campus may request access to the "freshman" lot in lieu of using UT Transit Services buses. These requests will be approved as space permits on a first-come-first-served basis.

Commuter Students

Commuter students will receive a commuter pass and can park in the white line commuter spots. If you change status at any time you will need to check and make sure you have the appropriate hang tag to match your pass.  Students who live off campus are considered commuter students.
